'3D Printer Assembly Objective: The 3D printer assembly workshop aimed to promote open-source culture, networking with participants interested in 3D printing and digital fabrication, and advocate participants on the principles of machine assembly and 3D printers' functionality. Facilitators: Eslam Ali and Begatoo 3D Printer Model: Prusa i3 MK3.9 Kit Source: The kit is available as open source on help.prusa3d.com free of charge. Preparation: Parts were locally purchased or fabricated. Electronics, metal rods, nuts were purchased from the local market. PLA material parts were fabricated in the ADEF fab lab. Preparation took two weeks. Assembly Process: Preparation and Arrangement: All parts were prepared and arranged. Clean holes for screws, nylon filament, etc., using a hand drill with a 3mm drill bit if needed. Clean all other holes, for example, for smooth rods, using a heat gun to melt any filament residue. Check parts for straightness, ensuring they are not bent. Final Checks: Due to time constraints, the workshop did not undergo a final check for the assembly or try a first print. However, it served as a promo for a more detailed and intensive workshop where participants will assemble their own 3D printers.'
